I was fascinated by the amount of people who tried to sell us stuff on resort/beach hence the name ‘the peddler’. This is a rough version done quickly on our balcony on the last day. Outdoor Series #Season 2 - Song 3 ‘Novel Study’ At the end of our performance at Grist on October 9th, 2025 we took the opportunity to shoot a couple original tunes in the loft. Cheating on the outdoor series name a bit but this is filmed outside my studio at least. Novel Study is still one of my fav tunes to play live. It has a tricky riff to sing overtop of and it plays throughout the whole song. Two lines of each verse are dedicated to my favourite children’s novels. Can you guess all four? About Ryan

Ryan Thomas Smelle is a singer/songwriter that has been playing in and around the Niagara Region for over 20 years. He is often found performing solo as ‘Ryan Thomas Smelle’ or as a duo/trio under the names of ‘Ryan Thomas Duo’ or ‘Ryan Thomas Trio’ respectively. His music crosses many genres and includes acoustic, pop, rock, folk, country and adult contemporary. Ryan will liven up any venue with his upbeat charismatic performing, and interactive crowd engagement along with providing some ear pleasing melodies, hooky riffs and catchy choruses.
